Lee H was born on the 7th December 1979 and began mixing at the tender age of 14. He gained his first set at just 16, playing at The Tube in Tiverton, playing for a small promotion called Plastic Fantastic. After playing at the Tube a couple times that same year, Lee became resident for Big Hammer Promotions, playing at The Burston in Bow. The Burston was a small club, with a capacity of around 300, but renowned for its underground scene. After 6 months, Big Hammer branched out holding nights further a field, at venues such as The Grove in Seaton and The Paradise Club in Honiton. By this time Lee H was playing most weekends and the bookings came flooding in. Promoters, like Legend and Madhouse Mania from North Devon, who held bigger nights with DJ such as Carl Cox, Trevor Rockliffe and Tony De Vit also asked Lee to come down and play. This is where Lee really started getting behind his music, to impress the punters.
Lee was asked to headline at a number of Big Hammer events, at the Burston in Bow. The place was always rammed. Lee managed to gain other sets that year abroad playing in Magaluf, Spain, at Funky Monkeys and Charlie’s, alongside high flyers such as Judge Jules and Lisa Pin-Up. On his return to the UK Lee took some time out to get his life back on track and find a 9 to 5 job. He now works for Devon County Council as one of their Corporate Project Officers.
In 2004 Lee finally got back behind the 1’s and 2’s playing funky/electro house at various local bars and clubs in the Exeter area, such as The 3 Fat Fish, the Velvet Lounge, and the Zephyr Bar. He also entered the Dance Academy DJ Comp in Plymouth and made it to the semi-finals, which was a fantastic boost and again gained him the recognition he desired.
Lee was asked to host his own show on www.pleasureradio.co.uk, every other Sunday 18:00 - 20:00, which included interviews with local DJs, Top 10s from around the globe and various live sets from the up & coming wannabees in the area.
Over the years Lee has picked up a number of residencies for Tranz@ction (Cornwall), Used Goods (Exeter), Plastic Fondu (London), Electronic Sessions (London), and most recently he was asked to play for The Gallery at the Ministry Of Sound in London playing in the 103 bar. Lees next date for the Gallery is on the 15th April Playing along side Manuel De La Mare.
Lee has also played one off sets for some of the biggest brands and Festivals in the business, such as Gatecrasher, Tidy, Slammin Vinyl (Westfest), Judgement Sundays (Ibiza), Global Gathering (Strongbow arena) and Glastonbury.
Putting DJing aside, Lee is a very keen promoter and worked selling tickets, setting up venues and generally helping out with other promotions in the southwest that needed any help. He then decided to start something of his own and created his brand, House Trap.
House Trap was born on the 28th March 2008 at The Velvet Lounge in Exeter. Since then nights have grown and gathered quite a following in the South West and London. Some of House Trap most memorable events so far for Lee has to be The House Trap Ibiza Special with Brandon Block, running House Trap at the Ministry Of Sound for the Gallery and taking House Trap with 3 residents to Ibiza for 3 weeks for the 2009 season running events at Hush, Plastik and playing Bar Viva and Eden for Judgement Sundays.
