Today is my 1st Anniversary on SoundCloud. Well I least I thought it was till I just googled it in case I was too early, and actually found out it was in fact yesterday the 3rd of October and not the 4th which is today. I really must get my timing right:)
I very much started SC with a piano solo entitled "Step Into The Fall" which can be found here: Lee Lucas - Step into the Fall by Lee >>> Lucas
The piece was very much aimed at describing the first days of Autumn with the leaves falling from the tree's and whatever else is associated with Autumn. To be honest I thought I done a rather good job of it, and its perhaps one of my finer piano pieces. I can be very critical of my own work that's for sure, but this one I felt did exactly the purpose it was meant to do. With a song with lyrics it perhaps a lot more easy to express just what it is you are trying to put over, it's a much harder task to do just musically and with the right expression for the piece to say just what it is you are trying to put across. Everything about "Step Into The Fall" I personally think did just that including its title which was inspired from the piece. I still consider it as the finest piano piece I ever wrote for that reason.
For my Anniversary here on the cloud, I had every intention of putting out a new piano solo based around the same chord structure as "Step Into The Fall" I have very much recorded one, but chose to put if off in favour of a new piano solo I have very much created for a rather interesting group my good friend Peter Vorländer created entitled Rain, Rain, Rain a couple of weeks back now.
It was Peter's group that very much inspired me to do this new piece, and it is very much a piece once again also associated with the season of Autumn. There is a special reason why the subject matter of rain fascinated me so much, and that is quite simply because here in England over the past few years, we have seen a dramatic change to the seasons. For example in last October when I uploaded my very first piece on SC "Step Into The Fall" I have never seen so much sun in my whole life during such a period. It was a blazing hot summers day, and was for about the first 10 days of October. England had seen a lot more sun than what it ever did during the months of June to August which is its summer season. This year I have never seen so much rain in England during those same months, it has not stopped since the first day of June. Only for about 14 days if that during the whole of summer, and it's still very much raining now.
The Rain Of Contentment is my latest ditty on the piano. It was very much written for the Rain, Rain, Rain Group to which I volunteered to give Peter a hand in running it. The piece very much describes the coldness of Autumns damp and dark nights. The contentment is the feeling of being warm and dry inside your house, or snuggled up in your bed with the rain pelting down on your windows, and that feeling of being snug and warm and all wrapped up with a warm feeling of contentment and being safe out of reach of it all. For this piano solo I also added a nice splash of rain from the Korg M1.
Now on another note, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support for me and my music on the cloud over the last year. I could not of done it without you all encouraging me along, and would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart, and long live SoundCloud and your great music, to which I have enjoyed listening to tremendously...
Please find time to leave comments, to which will be very well appreciated. Many thanks for listening.
