Need a gift for a gifted musician?
Introduced to deejaying in the late 1990s by way of hip hop mixtapes and drum and bass radio shows, I made a connection between these underground sounds and the pause tape mixes I had been making as a young kid and realized that deejaying was the next way I could discover and share new music. Using my dad's analog receiver, mismatched garage sales turntables, discarded speakers and a tape deck, I sutured together a soundsystem calculated to drive my parents mad. Listening to drum and bass mixtapes eventually led to attending drum and bass parties then selling drum and bass tapes at raves. I booked my first gig in 2004 playing under the nom de plume El Blanco Nino. Since then I have played Toronto's best and worst venues under a number of monikers - Eclectic Dyslexic, Disgrace Jones - and with different crews - Disco Honkies, Tight Knit Djs - but I have always dropped an cultivated selection of house, breaks, disco, techno, bass, electro, deep, minimal, italo, boogie, afrobeat, jazzdance, ghettohouse, breakdance and soul. My love of music grows exponentially with my record collection and I'd like to thank you for allowing me to share that love with you.
