About

This is a collection of my composition and more cinematic electronic work. Please check out my hip hop/bass music project Alluxe at Alluxe

Laura Escudé is an ubiquitous force in the near future of music. She is first an acclaimed violinist, composer and sound designer. Second, she is a music technologist, actually one of the key players in the contemporary electronic beat scene, and thus a key figure in how all new music is being made and performed. In technologic realms — she is a visionary for the future of music.

Her 2011 highlights include playing violin on Kanye and Jay-Z’s Watch The Throne album, which subsequently saw her tour as part of their entourage, helping with vocal effects and music programming for the critically and commercially acclaimed tour. She also worked on Cirque du Soleil’s IRIS production and designed Bon Iver’s vocal effects and live performance rig. Previously she has composed music for a Visa commercial, performed on Dancing With the Stars, at The Do Lab’s LA music showcase, won Runner Up prize for best DJ mix for the Lightning in a Bottle Festival. She was a featured speaker at events such as the San Diego Music and Technology Conference and Yuri’s Night. The list goes on.

As an artist, 2010 saw Laura release her first full-length album Pororoca, a beautiful marriage of cinematic strings and edgy electronics. The album has received favorable reviews for it’s innovative, cinematic sound. Evil Monito called it “a beautifully arranged album that explores music with an organic touch.” The debut placed her among contemporaries within the neo-classical electronic music scene that centers on low end polemics and heady melodies. Since then she’s taken the stage at Do Lab, Google, KCRW and LA County Museum of Art.

In her latest release under the moniker Alluxe, she takes her numerous experiences and inspirations and pushes them to their limit. The lead off track “Shades” is a straight-up mid-tempo growler with hands in both dark, cinematic electronic and progressive hip-hop that is ready for the modern dancefloor. It a big track with room to appeal across the board. Laura pulls these disparate elements together for her debut Alluxe track and more surprisingly melds the two to create her banging “2011 Heaters” mixtape featuring genre-defying mixes between The Weeknd and James Blake, Araabmuzik and Zomby. As she continues to have her hand of the pulse of the underground electronic music scene, she simultaneously informs the mainstream about what they’ll be listening to next.

Laura’s specialty is the software program Ableton Live, which she uses in much of her productions. In fact, she became one of the first Ableton Certified Trainers in the world in 2008. Her company Electronic Creatives specializes in music and technology consulting. She has worked with diverse directors, artists and composers such as Kanye West, M83, Bon Iver, Herbie Hancock, J.J. Abrams, Jason Reitman, Lili Haydn, LMFAO, Sean Beavan, Mark Isham, We Are the World, and Carmen Rizzo.

As the world of music increasingly turns to technology, Laura Escudé has proven to be a diviner for the leading voices in the game. She has also developed her own unique sound in applying those influences. As a solo artist with her pulse (and handprint) on the most important music, Laura continues to blaze a path toward the future with Alluxe.
