Born February 2, 1981 in Kingston, Jamaica, DJ LaShmoove is a hip hop producer/artist that cofounded the label Ninja Music Records in West Palm Beach, FL. He began his career DJing gigs from South florida to the florida Panhandle traveling with local college acts, and also garnishing feature nights to promote reggae and classic hip hop. Talent scout for his first independent label named Indigo International, at the time gathering local acts in the florida panhandle area. worked on local remixes by international artists. has done unauthorized remixes for Michael Jackson, Jay Z, Big Pun, the notorious B.I.G., Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Boys to men, Shai, Lil troy, Capleton, Pitbul, Trina, M.I.A.
Production Style:
LaShmoove has an old school production method that relies on several synthesizers, his main one being a MicroKorg, turntables, MPC 2000XL, and standard issue studio hardware all live and in sync. Most of DJ LaShmoove production relies heavily on samples, obscure and not so obscure, from cassette tapes to vinyl records. live instrumentation is also incorporated from organs to shakers and bongos. All LaShmoove productions are unique and not on the same programming as main stream radio. Lashmoove relies less on looping and more on MOODING the instrumental throughout its paces. his beats are standalone songs that tell stories with the instruments. spending the weekends crate digging for wax, and or tape cassettes to get the most unique sounds available to tell a totally new story everytime. He attributes the slow melancholy grooves to “good times”.
