...and all man, girlfriend.
Lance 'Land Shark' DeSardi, in a nutshell.
Deep F*@KING House. Well that's what he calls it, anyway. Some might say his sound blurs the lines
between house and techno, but no one could deny that it's deep. Sub-aquatic deep. 20,000 leagues under
the sea deep. Deeper than the Marianas Trench. Deeper than a deep-fried Mars bar kind-of-deep. Well,
maybe not that deep. That shit is DEEP.
At 35 earth cycles (not looking a day over 40), Lance is currently splitting his time between London and San
Francisco, having a full production studio in the latter, where he works on his own productions as well as for
some of the biggest names in the business, using the term ?business' very loosely. His studio mix credits
include work for labels like Visionquest, Wolf & Lamb, Crosstown Rebels, Black Catalogue, Hottub and
As far as his own music is concerned, he's had loads of remixes and his own 12”s under various monikers
for labels like Leftroom, Black Catalogue, Classic, Dessous, PIAS, Lazy Days, or Seasons, on which he released a full length album with JT Donaldson as Undercover Agency. The duo also had some success in 2004 with a DJ mix compilation and double unmixed vinyl for OM Records called San Francisco Sessions Volume 5. In 2013 Carl Craig featured The Power Of Suggestion (Black Catalogue) as the last track on Disc 1 of his Ministry of Sound Masterpiece disc set.
In the midst of all this, Lance spawned his alter ego Land Shark, under which he released 4 singles and a
self-titled album on Coco Machete Records. The first single ?Tie Me Up' was an international underground hit
and brought praise from virtually every DJ on the planet under 50 and over 4, and saw a re-release in 2013 with remixes by Yousef and PBR Streetgang. The Shark's other mentionable endeavors–and there are many unmentionables–include touring the album as a band and recording with Greenskeepers on their LP ?The Ziggy Franklin Radio Show', and this year a monster appearance on DAP's Brush Your Lips for Radio Slave's Rekids imprint. The Shark has recently resurfaced strong for 2014 (no more fish puns, promise) with a track on The Extended Family Vol. 3 EP on Matt Tolfrey's Leftroom Records, and a new single in the works.
As a DJ, Lance has traveled to the far corners of the globe, bringing his brand of tech-funk to sweaty rooms
like The Rex in Paris, the now defunct Food Club in Brussels, the venerable Panorama Bar in Berlin, as well
as tours in Australia, New Zealand, Portugal, Japan and other exotic locales. He's also slugged it out in the
trenches in places like Kansas City, El Paso, and Dallas, where he hails from, so it's not all glitz and
glamour. Though mostly.***
***Kansas City, El Paso, and even Dallas are actually really fun.
