Need a gift for a gifted musician?
Kyriah Dee (pronouned Key-ra-ya) is a Dublin based songstress, raised in Zimbabwe. However her interest in music grew when she came to Ireland, and joined Victory Christian fellowship. At 18 years old she was leading praise and worship in front of hundreds and writing and arranging songs for the team with the musicians including her cousin Jean Passion. “Hide me now” a song produced by Jean Passion and written and sang by her was featured on the R3V album released by the church. The two later teamed up as she featured on his Glory of A Woman album on which she did a rendition of the Pillar.
At 21 she began writing for her own album teaming up with Yn Hitz. The duo came up with the song Amazing grace which gained radio play online. She took part in the CAMfest (Christian Artists and Musicians Festival) where she was awarded the top prize in late 2008. Also to her credit is winning the 2009 Balbriggan’s got talent show and was also awarded the best Gospel Singer/Performer by the Gospel Music Awards organised by the God’s General Foundation at the end of 2009. She met Jusa Dementor, a producer, artist and CEO of African Bred Recording Artists known as ABRA Tribe who began producing for her album, mentoring her and recruited her to the team. Kyriah’s first release on 1/1/11 has a funk/pop instrumental produced by Chris Kabs and is reminiscent of Earth Wind and Fire’s track September garnished with strong brass and bass presence. Her vocals on this track, a radical mix of Tina Turner’s power, range & fearlessness, Erykah Badu’s jazz articulation and Angelique Kidjo’s rich Afro-centric elements influence. Lyrically the song personifies the singer’s positive nature through the storms she has faced in her life.
As a performer, she is known for connecting with her crowd, and incredible vocals which have impressed the likes of Shayne Lynch from the pop boy band Boyzone, Former Eurovision Song Contest winner Linda Martin and creator/host of Emmy Award winning talent search show Inspirational Sensation Pastor Dan Willis and Mr World 2010 Kamal Ibrahim. Girl Child Network CEO and CNN Hero Betty Makoni. Her most notable performances vary from council award shows to, Miss Zimbabwe Ireland, Face of Africa Ireland, Miss Southern Africa Ireland, an opening act for Kirk Franklin live in Dublin, Econet Live alongside Jusa Dementor and FGM Awareness where she performed her forthcoming single This Is Personal and most memorable in 2011, her opening for Multi-Platinum selling artist Miss Lira. In 2011 Kyriah was nominated for 3 awards at the Ireland African Music Awards, including Best Female artist. This, an Addition to two nominations at the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards including Video of the Year for Turn Around which was shot and Directed by Jusa Dementor.
She has collaborated, with Chris Kabs, Jean Passion, Shayndingz, Doseone and Jusa Dementor As a song writer her goal is to reach young people, and to talk about issues that concern the youth, and inspire them to achieve more than the superficial and build a relationship with God.
She is quite the philanthropist, engaging in raising awareness on issues particularly affecting women and on her 24th birthday she launched The Girl With The Black Umbrella Campaign where she teamed up with the Girl Child network to initiate raising funds for school fees for under privileged girls in year 2012.Kyriah is currently working on various projects to break the Irish Market as well as fully introducing herself to the Zimbabwe Music Industry.
