After visiting & becoming a regular at Midlands Super Club Progress in Derby from mid ’95, Kris was exposed to a wide range of House music from some of the biggest DJs in the world. You name them & they would have played there! In particular, Tony De Vit, Jeremy Healy, Judge Jules & Tall Paul would be early inspirations. Kris started to learn to mix in ’96 & then in ’97 he & his friend had the opportunity playing b2b for a variety of Progress’ brand nights, “Hot To Trot” in Chesterfield & “Horny” at the Void in Stoke-on-Trent. They both ventured over to Ibiza in ’98, ’99 & 2000, where they played b2b DJ sets at Bar M, Café Mambo & Bar Zuka playing House, including a 7 hour set at the closing party for Cream at Bar M.
A new night would appear in Derby along with the rise in popularity of Trance & Hard House in ’99, allowing the pair to start forging their own solo careers. Kris was able to start playing the music he really enjoyed, focusing on Hard House. That year would see him gaining residency alongside Tony De Vits prodigy Fergie at a small Hard House night in Derby called Energy. Shortly after, he would go on to holding residencies at Insomniacz in Sheffield, alongside Paul Glazby (given the title no.1 club in the country by Ministry Magazine) & Sunday Service in Derby, which featured in the Top 5 best new UK club nights in MixMag.
Between residencies at both Insomniacz & Sunday Service, Kris featured on line ups that read like a “Who’s Who” in Hard House. Building on his reputation he played guest spots at various clubs around the UK including Storm. 2001 saw him add another residency to his list, returning to Progress as main room resident. He continued to feature alongside big names, as well as having the drummer who toured with the Prodigy play live over his set. Towards the end of 2003 Kris relocated to Australia where he would mainly focus on music production. Since then he’s had tracks & remixes signed to respectable Hard House labels including: Toolbox, Fireball, Deprivation, & Digital Cohesion, with support from big names including: Andy Farley, Justin Bourne, Paul Maddox, JP & Jukesy, Nik Denton & Ben Stevens. He’s also featured in the Top 100 Charts on toolboxdigitalshop.com & trackitdown.net along with reviews in IDJ (International DJ) Magazine, DJ Mag & MixMag. Andy Farley & Rodi Style featured Kris' work on their Slinky FM Shows, with his remix of Future Resonance "Attention" (released on Renewable NRG) featuring on Andy Farleys “Farley Time! Future Hard House” album released on Tidy! Kris is now involved in label management, running Hard House imprint Digital Cohesion alongside Ian Jay (Hi Freak1c).
Digital Cohesion has made a positive impact in the short time it’s been around, including making shortlists in the Toolbox Hard House Awards. The label features some of the biggest names alongside the best emerging talent on offer. Things are looking bright for the label as the brand continues to gain respect amongst producers, DJs & music lovers. 2013 has so far seen Kris make his debut on the legendary Tripoli Trax with his track “Ctrl Alt Groove”. This has led to him remixing the Fruitloop classic “Here Comes That Sound” for part of the new Tripoli Trax Allstars EPs. He’s also had the opportunity to mix Tripoli Trax Vol.6, following on from: Vol.1 Steve Thomas, Vol.2 Pete Wardman, Vol.3 DJ Ziad & Vol.4 (double mix album) Knuckleheadz & Rachel Auburn. “Ctrl Alt Groove” was featured in Andy Farleys mix on the 2013 Toolbox Hard House Awards Album & was the opening track in Nik Denton & Dave Owens b2b set at the Ideal Weekender. He’s also recently collaborated with Paul Chambers (Flash Harry/Bulletproof) on the Disco Dub project “Get Dirty”. On a great final note for now, Kris has been named by Tripoli Trax label manager Marc Johnson as one of the artists handpicked to be the future of the label. He continues to DJ in Australia as well as making regular trips back to the UK, including studio collaborations & a limited amount of DJ dates while he’s there.
