KRAYMON Biography
Some words about the sounds of Pete Horsham. Known as Kraymon.
His debut single ‘Got to Get Busy’ was a clear indication of Kraymon’s musical intentions over a decade ago in 2001. However the meaning behind other track titles, such as ‘Time Wasting’, shouldn’t be taken so literally! Nowadays he has more strings to his bow than a cheese straw and is involved in a multitude of remixes, club nights, tours abroad and kazoo master classes. As if that wasn’t enough he’s recently launched his own record label Louse Records (www.louserecords.co.uk) with the self produced first release ‘Slick Tricks’ heralding a new cinematic dimension to the Kraymon sound.
Regardless of the tune, there is always a distinct Kraymon style; hard to define, impossible to resist. It is fair to say he is renowned for huge bass, intricate beats and sublime, crispy production. Kraymon makes dance floors a very sweaty place with tracks such as ‘Big Ravey Bastard’ and ‘Just Press Play’, which are guaranteed to get things moving. All you need to do is press play.
Everyone wants a fat slice of the Kraymon cake, and many record labels ask for a second helping, including Dusted Breaks, Boombox, En:vision, Freakaboom, MBN, Streetwise, Dead Famous and Vertical Sound Records. Many artists including Product.01, Koma & Bones, Future Funk Squad, and 30Hz have called on Kraymon for remixing duties. Support for his tracks has come from such luminaries as Plaid, Laurent Garnier & Orbital who have played his tracks at festivals, on BBC Radio 1 and even sang his praises in DJ Mag.
As part of the KINGPIN brethren, Kraymon was part responsible for one of Bristol’s finest underground dance nights, which ran for a healthy seven years. Guests ranged from firmly established international Breakbeat & Techno legends such as Elite Force, Radioactive Man, Hardfloor & Octave One, to local DJs playing Reggae, Dubstep and House.
Kraymon has played far and wide with highlights including Glade Festival and Fabric in London. He is a generous chap. Not content with amusing the masses at home, Kraymon has been known to go on one-man road trips to lands afar, ranging from playing weekends in European cities, to mixing it up on the other side of the world in Australia. The venue is almost irrelevant, he sounds good everywhere.
With a debut album in the pipeline it’s exciting times ahead.
