Bristol based producer kr4y, real name Willem Borgesius, has a strong techno influence from his misspent youth in the Netherlands, which shines through his drum and bass productions. Following his degree in Creative Music Technology, kr4y lost interest in a lot of drum and bass for a few years. During this time, he was still making dnb beats, but grew away increasingly unaware of developments in d...nb. This dramatically changed in 2007 when he discovered the techno influenced dnb sound from a Venom Inc online radio show hosted by Dj Senator and TN1. Sounds from producers such as Pyro, Proket, Pylon and Allied showed that there was no need to lose interest in dnb again.

Apart from commercial digital releases, kr4y has had many releases on a number of netlabels, run purely on the love for music and creative freedom. Since 2008 he has been running the beataddiction.cc netlabel together with German producer Arje. This netlabel releases free tracks by themselves as well as sounds from a selection of other artists on a highly irregular basis. Other free legal downloads by kr4y can be found on T-Free, Qu-Beats, HMSU, and Internet Recordings.

Since his first releases in 2008 through the now deceased Tilt Recordings, his style has varied from brain smashingly hard straight 4x4 to progressive soundscapes on dnb tempo. In 2010 he reached the next level with his dnb releases on Temper D Recordings. First on a collab with Ukranian producer Fade with the track Minigolf, followed by the experimental Snap Out Of It and dancefloor smasher Chaindrive. T3K Recordings, part of the staple diet for technoid dnb, hosted his ever building tracks Fringe and Steed, and in 2011 the kr4y - Protozoa EP with remixes from Fade, ProtonKid and Darkhalf. The Section8 Recordings label, with its connection to dnbradio.com, has proven to be a good home for tracks such as Groef, TR-3B, Datamining and Lateral Clique. In 2012 the track Flummox was released on the Extent Recordings Group. with a brutal morphing bassline between a classic techno-dnb bed of kicks. At the time of writing, there are also eagerly awaited forthcoming solo tracks and collabs on Perkussiv, and Venom Inc.
