Need a gift for a gifted musician?
Kristian is a dj/producer based in Vancouver, Canada. He is veteran of many seminal nights in the Vancouver club scene, including a four-year residency at Focus Fridays at the legendary Lotus Sound Lounge which featured such luminaries as Kasey Taylor, Paolo Mojo, Chris Fortier, Jimmy Van M, Luke Fair and Desyn Masiello. He has also played a number of summer music festivals, including 2008's Pemberton Music Festival, as well as several appearances at the Live at Squamish Festival. A relentless sourcer of fresh music and unearthed gems, Kristian's sound incorporates the best elements of disco, house, and techno, spanning subtle, groovy basslines, cruisy hypnotic grooves, and peak-time shakers, but always with an eye on keeping the dancefloor moving. Kristian's dj influences include Danny Howells, Greg Wilson, Sasha and Terry Francis. He counts Psychemagik, The Revenge, Chab, Asad Rizvi, and Late Nite Tuff Guy as some of his favourite producers. His first release "Acid Rephlux" was released on Powerplant Music in October, 2007. Backed with a remix by the talented Kriece from Australia, it spent four weeks on the Balance promo chart, peaking at 16. More recently, he has been working on a series of funk and disco edits under the alias "Instant Phunk" (with partner-in-crime John Morgan). Kristian has put together many well received mixes over the years, including the "Morning, Noon, and Night" trilogy, with John Morgan and Kiki Stewardson (both of Powerplant), and "Stickiest", voted one of the best-ever mixes aired on Frisky Radio.
