Kinzy (born Joshua Kinsella in Newport, Wales 6/11/1992) is a Dubstep producer coming out of the south of Wales. Kinzy began producing at a real young age, while he was still studying at a Welsh comprehensive school in Wales. One of his biggest achievements was winning the 'Double 99 - Rip Groove' remix competition back in 2009, at the age of 15. Having releases on the same label as well known artist's such as Fat Boy Slim, Tim Deluxe, Noisia, X-Press2, just to name a few. The remix was released on vinyl with a remix from 'The Count' and also the original version on the flip. This was a big stepping stone in the young producer’s life, having it played on national radio (BBC Radio 1/1Xtra) and support from some of the worlds most respected DJ's.
As the final school year came to an end, Kinzy had already been accepted into Access to Music College in Bristol where he studied on a Digital Musician course learning about music production and sound recording. He completed the full 3 year course and achieved a lot during his time at the centre. He was nominated in 2010 at the ATM awards in Birmingham, in which he won the ‘Best Producer Award’.
As a young upcoming producer, Kinzy has had many releases on various labels across the country having originals & remixes released hitting the 1st, 2nd & 3rd spot in the Dubstep charts on many online music stores. Since the age of 16, many remix opportunities have come his way, remixing classic dance floor hit's such as 'Hardknox - Fire Like Dis' which was released on Skint Records, alongside Matta's remix of Noisia's 'Gutterpump'. Kinzy has been on Dubstep compilation CD's which have been sold across in the country in stores such as HMV. He has also been on a compilation CD which was run by Sony Music Australia. The compilation albums contain tracks from artist's such as Rusko, Chase n Status, and Skream just to name a few. Another great achievement the young artist has under his belt is the collaboration he done with international superstar James Hazell, also known as Funtcase or Haze which was released on True Tiger Recordings.
Kinzy has received support from huge artists in the game such as Hatcha, N:Type, Skream & Benga, MistaJam, Funtcase, Crissy Criss, Jakes, & Dream. Kinzy also has his music played on radio stations such as BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1 Xtra & Kiss FM. He was also the special guest on DJ Hatcha & MC Crazy D’s Dubstep radio show on Kiss FM.
Kinzy also hosts and DJ’s on a radio show he runs on ROOD.FM every Monday from 2-4pm.
