KinG! is one of the most extraordinary new producer/songwriters entering the music scene. He will be influencing the sound of young America for generations to come. He is based in the blazing hot San Fernando Valley section of Los Angeles, California. Although KinG! is a California native, his roots go back to the hit-making streets of the city of Detroit, Michigan. KinG’s parents are Detroit natives who grew up in the city during the Motown era. His father moved to Los Angeles to become a sound engineer and record producer in the 1980’s.
KinG was born in the early nineties and introduced to the classic sounds of Motown while still in the womb. At the age of four, KinG! and his father moved into the recording studio his father was managing. Earth, Wind, and Fire guitarist, Al McKay owned the studio. KinG!’s father produced and engineered tracks for Al McKay, Verdine White, of EWF, The Temptations, and The Emotions, to name just a few, while they lived there. While sitting near the recording console playing video games, KinG! began absorbing the musical influences of some of R and B’s greatest talent. Even at the early age of four his musical curiosity did not confine him to any particular music genre. On first hearing Jimi Hendrix’s Purple Haze, he inquired, “I like that music, who is that?” He has also studies and appreciates such diverse music as progressive rock group King Crimson, Elvis, Santana, Ray Charles and D’Angelo.
By the age of 6, KinG! and his father moved out of the studio but his close proximity to his father’s work was far from over. At the age of eight KinG! began going on concert tours with his father. The music bug bit him on a tour to Osaka, Japan when he was brought on stage during one of the performances. At that time he began playing guitar, upright/bass, piano, drums, strum stick, percussion, harmonium and vocals.
At Van Nuys High School, KinG! enrolled in the music magnate program where he played guitar in the school’s jazz band. During that time he also started developing his skills as a producer. KinG! is putting the “hard work” back into music production by relying on his own and his artists creativity rather than relying on technology. KinG! and his musicians play music, his singers sing and his rappers rap.
KinG! is ready to share the sum of all his musical experiences in three ear pleasing projects. His production prowess on DMV’s Fly 735, Hoodini and KinG!’s Complex Ignorance, and KinG!† Doey’s VADER marks the return to a refreshing autotuneless musical soundscapes that appeals to the funky, sophisticated listener of the twenty-first century.
