DJ Flatic & 5ive, the two Japanese producers behind Cos/Mes, have gob-smacked us with their rich and colorful mixes, constantly changing the key of this often monotonous industry. Naruto opens with a chugging, Cos/Mes trademark rhythm. In from the ocean's depth come the menacing monster grunts. Hard-panned sounds of a dragon licking its tongue interchange with eerie laughter and slowly increase the unease. Towards the end you arrive in a dreamlike ambiance with floating fragments of spiritual jazz and swampy blues slides. Slowly drowning with delight. A perfect storm of pure analogue breaking waves with a frothy crest.
