Need a gift for a gifted musician?
Hertfordshire based drum & bass artist Kicking Nines (aka Sam Judge) begun dabbling in producing electronic music in 2005 & soon began to collaborate with other local artists to gain a better understanding of technique. This early collaboration effort saw the release of ‘Decompressed’ in 2006, a 10 track collab album with fellow artist Dwoo.
After building local support & finding his own musical style in the realm of drum & bass, he released his first solo EP ‘Tiger Diamonds’ on Cupboard Music in 2008 which blended ambient textures with breakbeat rhythms.
Continuing to take inspiration from various genres of music across the decades a large catalog of tunes were created from 2008 onwards eventually culminating in contributing the track ‘What A Day’ to 2010’s ‘A Healthy Sound For Healthy Listening’, an album showcasing the musical talents of Hertfordshire. Around the same time Kicking Nines began to play live DJ sets, notably choosing to play music which inspires his sound rather than his music itself.
Currently Kicking Nines is putting the finishing touches on his first full length album ‘Rookie Manoeuvres" which will be released on Cupboard Music in 2013.
“A beautiful and poignant sound which plays heavily on emotions, you will either be smiling profoundly or weeping sweet tears. Versatile. Thought provoking. Brilliant."
