About

Born in 1976, Ki-Yota had a childhood and adolescence tinged music of all kinds as tango, waltz, jazz (played by his father accordionist), rock, metal, pop, dance and hip -hop. In 1993, is interested in electronic music he discovered by his neighbor. Orbiting then techno events in major Swiss cities as Basel, Zurich, Bern and Biel as well as in Germany, listening to artists like Cristian Vogel, Alec Empire, I-F, Dj Hell, Kenny Larkin, Robert Hood ... and it's having seen and heard Jeff Mills in 1996 that he decided to practice deejaying. Following the advice of its direct fathers (Hi-Speed, and Smooky Ribose), it crosses the years by mixing and scratching all he falls under the hand by the obstinate research of its own "sound". His first wish, bring a touch of originality to its mixes. After a year to attend illegal evenings in forest or in caves and other underground, he met in late 1998 with music distilled by the artists from "No Future". It was in 2000 that the mega party "Millennium" was held in Basel. They invited headliners as Jamie Lidell, Subhead, Justin Berkovi, Eva Cazal and many others ... It was at that famous evening that the leader of the band Subhead, Jason Leach, decides to create a label in Switzerland in collaboration with Andre Ferlin where he flaire a very good potential. Thus the label Mercurochrome was born. It counts among its ranks of artists such as Hi-Speed, Smooky, Nino Fight Smees, Ki-Yota, Fugo, Steady-P, Aster OH, and of course Jason Leach. Others will be grafted over the years. Ki-Yota was attracted by the musical composition, already practiced by his friends, in 2001, where he creates his own songs using the program "Music 2000" on Playstation one. In 2002, with its 3 best friends Smees, Smooky and Nino Fight, they founded their own label, Electronik Weed Crew, sponsored by Cora S. from Berlin. After several years of madness to mix in the first parts of artists as Jamie Lidell, Si Begg, Neil Landstrumm, Subhead, Dave Tarrida, La Monde, Tobias Schmidt, Dj Netik (DMC champion), Afrika Bambaata (the real) ... mixing in clubs such as The Prague (Neuheimat, DE), The Tresor (DE), La Coupole (CH), Les Fours à Chaux (CH), La Case à Chocs (CH), or Le Golf (CH). Between 2005 and 2007, the evenings were rarer because of repression. Not allowing shoot it the opportunity to perfect his technique dj and his way of composing his songs. In 2007, Ki-Yota created his own label: <> in which it distributes its creations in audio files via www.junodownload.com. It was in 2008 that Jerome Hill from London (they met in the past) contact him to produce pieces on its label Don’t records (DON’T 13 EP). He also entered in the record label Mutate records held by Unique 3, Si Begg and others.. Ki-Yota concocted during his performance, an erudite alchemy between an electro and a techno mixed with basseline of madness, with a groove and energy to all tests. The deejaying is his true passion ... and it feels ... it gives us a great underground music accessible but still overlooked by a technique infrequent of turntablism... His own creations are a little bit more complicated, less accessible. But if you make the effort to open your heart, your soul and especially your ears, your senses will appreciate its original compositions... ..
