biog:
Kev Obrien is a man on a mission. Having spent many years engulfed in Florida's club and rave scene, Kev recently transplanted from the Sunshine State to the concrete jungles of NYC; and he hasn't looked back, or come up for air since.
Donning many caps within the EDM-world, Kev divides his time between DJing, producing, event coordinating, writing music reviews, and working as a strategic/A&R consultant for various labels and EDM-related websites.
As a founding member and 1/3 of the group Stranjjur (also Francisco V and Billy Disciple), Kev has taken NYC and the globe by storm over the past year, working non-stop to push the groove and funk-focused house and techno that his growing fanbase has come to know and love. His Stranjj Selections radio show/podcast has soared in popularity, having been listened to and spread virally throughout the net, reaching well over 200,000 downloads in 2009 alone.
On September 18th, 2009, Stranjjur NYC was born, as a joint partnership with fellow-Stranjjur, NYC-vet and former Balance Record Pool member, Billy Disciple. These now monthly events focus on bringing up-and-coming, globally-renowned house music artists into NYC, and thus far Stranjjur NYC is introducing artists such as: Spencer Parker, Pezzner, Alex Niggemann, Till von Sein, Carlo Lio, Audio soul Project, Bearweasel and more.
November 2009 also saw Kev successfuly securing his first production signing, with Sweden's Tolerant Recordings (owned by Inkfish and David West). His first EP is due out early 2010.
With a local, national and international gig calendar thats growing each day, several new productions projects in the works, and enough drive and passion and die-hard work ethic to kill a horse, the future is looking bright for Kev Obrien and Stranjjur. Stay tuned!
