About
Michalis Moschoutis (b. 1979) is a guitarist and composer. Primarily using guitars, he produces music that deals with the perception of space, memory and time. The forms of his music are gradual and continuous; quiet and intimate guitars or heavily processed and remote soundscapes naturally evolve into pieces of transcendent and liturgical character.
Moschoutis studied classical guitar and theorbo (a type of lute) at the Guildhall School of Music in London and at the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague. Active both as a performer and a composer, he has collaborated with many Greek singers, composers and choreographers. He is the founder of the project Future Sessions and one half of the duo APNŒA. He has written music for short films, documentaries, interactive programs and pieces for string quartet, various ensembles and electronics.
Under the artistic moniker Kerkville, he released in 2010 his first album, Days, on the experimental music label Triple Bath. He has given concerts in Greece, Spain, England, Holland, Germany and Iceland.
