[Sorry, for now some songs are a bit quieter and some a bit louder than others. Volume control recommended!]

The notes I hope to hit: A cross between Sheryl Crow and the Spin Doctors, crafted for a Québec audience—a raw rock with strong vocals that draws on blues and folk music, and a little funkiness. At the moment, there’s only vocals (and a little drums I’ve played around with on a few tracks), but that’s about where I’d want the music to land. The message: A little humour, little love, little anger... flirty, a bit sexy, endlessly optimistic, but wise and a touch road-worn.

@Sunnidayz: Thanks, Sandy, I appreciate the kind words! Native-American, huh? Not intentionally, but things do creep in to our minds that we don't notice, so who knows?

And yeah, lies stink all-'round, but those liquor-lies are the worst. Watch out for 'em! :)

@Sunnidayz: LOL it's even crazier than it seems!! When I have it in my head *really* strongly I do it without anything, then come back and add the drums and the bass, so they won't pull me off-course. This was one of those.

@tvine2000: Ah, well, like everything I write, I take a little reality & mix in some spices & bake. There are probably only 3 or 4 on here that are 100% autobiography, but every single one has to have at least a piece of me in it to feel right. :)

Glad it got under your skin a little, Tom, seems like I'm doing my job!

@Kitchen Party House Band: LOL - the second question on their FAQs is... "Is it cheating if?" << that's the whole question. Because of course it's all in fun, so who are you cheating really? But I have the album planned out and plenty of songs to make up for being overeager with this one (just titles and concepts, but I'm gearing up obviously), so barring unforseen circumstances, I shouldn't have to rely on your discretion. :D Thanks for the listen, Roy!

      TENPENNY TEQUILA LIES

doesn’t take a lot of dreamin’
to see we’re doin’ this all wrong
you’re moving in here while we’re screamin’
and I already know the end of this song

you’re gonna love me all night as
      soon as we stop fightin’
(and) all the neighbors have to hear me cry
you’re gonna tell me everything is
gonna be all right with your
      tenpenny tequila lies

it doesn’t matter why I love you
you don’t know how to play fair
I’m gonna end up looking like a fool, because
you smile and I don’t have a prayer

you’re gonna love me all night as
      soon as we stop fightin’
(and) all the neighbors have to hear me cry
you’re gonna tell me everything is
gonna be all right with your
      tenpenny tequila lies

      who said
      all’s fair
      when you win
      I know I lose
      closer, now
      take me there
      we’ve got it wrong and
      I don’t even care

you’re gonna love me all night as
      soon as we stop fightin’
(and) all the neighbors have to hear me cry
you’re gonna tell me everything is
gonna be all right with your
      tenpenny tequila lies

it doesn’t matter why I love you, and your
      tenpenny tequila lies

you’re gonna love me all night as
      soon as we stop fightin’
(and) all the neighbors have to hear me cry
you’re gonna tell me everything is
gonna be all right with your
      tenpenny tequila lies

      with your
      tenpenny tequila lies
      tenpenny tequila lies
      your
      tenpenny tequila lies
      tenpenny tequila lies
      your
      tenpenny tequila

@Steve Ferguson: Thanks, Steve! Trying to get my mojo risin'. Slowly, slowly... but this is the first recording in at least two months where I was singing loudly enough to wonder if I was bothering my neighbors, so their bad luck is my "on the mend." :) :) :)

The RPM Challenge is coming! (*What* Challenge, you ask? Minimum 10-song album, entirely written and recorded within the month of February: for more info, http://rpmchallenge.com/ )

Tout Sauf Toi ("Anything But You") is my planned entry this year. I got a little happy about this first song, Tenpenny Tequila Lies, and recorded it before we're allowed to start. So that means I'll have to do at least ten more beyond this one, *within* the month of February, to complete the challenge...

... but this gives me a chance to encourage you early:

Dear listener, if you've ever wished for a deadline to push your creativity to the max, you've still got half a month to sign up and then a luxurious 28 days to complete the challenge. Click that link up there and test your songwriting & recording stamina with me next month. :)
