[Sorry, for now some songs are a bit quieter and some a bit louder than others. Volume control recommended!]

The notes I hope to hit: A cross between Sheryl Crow and the Spin Doctors, crafted for a Québec audience—a raw rock with strong vocals that draws on blues and folk music, and a little funkiness. At the moment, there’s only vocals (and a little drums I’ve played around with on a few tracks), but that’s about where I’d want the music to land. The message: A little humour, little love, little anger... flirty, a bit sexy, endlessly optimistic, but wise and a touch road-worn.

@debsmusic: Ha ha I'm glad it's still got color after the pushing I've been giving it. Thanks very much, Debra!

@Lee >>> Lucas: 'Til the jazz band in my head comes out, minimalism is the way to go. :) Thanks for the kind words, Lee!

@spanishlilies: LOL. An upbeat-downer of a song is good medicine sometimes. Glad you like it, Steve!!

Closing in... one of the final songs for Tout Sauf Toi ("Anything But You"), my planned album for the 2013 RPM Challenge.

(*What* Challenge, you ask? Minimum 10-song album, entirely written and recorded within the month of February: for more info, http://rpmchallenge.com/ )

      BUT NOT FOR MY BABY

the sun comes out for other people
      but not for my baby
love heals wounds for other people
      but not for my baby
the sky don’t cry for other people, but my baby knows
      that the rain
      serenades
      him alone

smiles turn to laughs for other people
      but not for my baby
sugar is sweet for other people,
      but not for my baby
comics don’t lie for other people, but my baby knows
      that the joke
      shaves close
      for him alone

touch is warm for other people
      but not for my baby
joy comes more than once for other people
      but not for my baby
there are waiting arms for other people, but my baby knows
      that the love

      no matter how
      I show him
      that it can be diff’rent

      that the hugs

      don’t keep a score
      because I want
      it to be even

      that the skin

      we’ll try again
      until I get
      his heart a-skippin’

      that the song
      is sung
      for him alone
