It all started in Paris in 2009, when pianist Mathieu Bélis and flautist Guillaume Barraud played together during an improvisation session.
The feeling of complicity between the musicians and the chemistry between their instruments made them meet again and start a musical laboratory. Writing music with an open mind, they created a singular world halfway between tradition and modernity, India and the West.
The following year, they made an essential stopover in Persia when they came across the percussionist Mossy Amidi Fard. They continued their journey as a trio whose singularity blossomed as their diversity was giving rise to a musical combination of tremendous intensity.
Intricate piano melodies intertwine with the breath of the flute on trance tombak beats. Between subtle nuances and bright vividness, Kārvān recounts a sublime and mysterious journey. Mathieu Bélis, Guillaume Barraud and Mossy Amidi Fard have fully recaptured the art of the trio, combining their talent to create an exceptional auditory experience.

Tout commence en 2009 à Paris, le pianiste MATHIEU BELIS et le flûtiste GUILLAUME BARRAUD se rencontrent lors d'une session d'improvisation. L'alchimie entre leurs instruments et une forte complicité les amènent à se revoir et mettre en place un véritable laboratoire musical. Ils s'y retrouvent et composent dans un esprit ouvert, créant un univers singulier, entre modernité et tradition, Inde et Occident... L'année suivante, le duo s'enrichit d'une escale incontournable: la Perse, avec le percussionniste MOSSY AMIDI FARD, et poursuit sa route, désormais en trio. Une réelle identité va éclore, et sa diversité produire un alliage musical d'une formidable intensité. Les mélodies intriquées du piano, le souffle de la flûte s'entremêlent aux battements de transe du tombak. De nuances en éclats, Karvan raconte un voyage mystérieux et sublime.
