This is a sampled hammond B3 organ. The sound source is the Creamware B2003 plugin - www.creamware.de - one of the most awarded and best-sounding hammond emulations on the market.
The organ was sampled in a range of 6 octaves at intervals of three semitones (4 samples per octave), using the most classical of the hammond sounds. Seamless looping was achieved for each sample. During the sampling session, the bass/treble leslie rotor, characteristic of the hammond sound, was set off, in order to obtain an instrument suitable for different purposes. You could add your own leslie plugin or use the emulation built into the kontakt 2 patch. Even being sampled, the patch maintains the characteristic playability and expressivity of the hammond sound.
The samples were arranged in a Native Instruments Kontakt 2 patch and three controllers were set in order to get a leslie emulation, controllable in realtime by the user. A custom Kontakt 2 script is added to the patch and allows you to get full control on the expression and on the sound.
CC20 is mapped to a crossover filter (2 pole) which splits the sound in 2 ranges: bass/treble. This was set to the best value, but you can try to move it a bit in order to get different tonal characteristics.
CC21 is assigned to the bass rotor speed.
CC22 is assigned to treble rotor. You can adjust the sound either while playing in realtime, using two controllers from your control surface, or by the kontakt script interface (edit the patch and press the script editor button)
Compressor, saturation and stereo enhancer were added in order to shape the sound. You may edit their settings, or even add an equalizer, in order to fit the sound to your needs.
In the demo sequence you can listen to a short phrase played by the hammond, showing its sound in a wide range. Then, a static chord is played and the leslie simulation is showed.
I hope you enjoy this instrument!
All the features listed above are present in the Kontakt version. Other formats are fully mapped versions of the original outputs
