Lots of modal twists and turns in this one. Thought I'd share it for free download as a sort of prequel to my next release. Hope people like it.

@Kaiori Breathe: No, thank makes sense. I know how certain synths can lend themselves to doing interesting/ unexpected sounds just based on how the notes are arranged, especially exaggerated with the use of layering. I thought that there might have been a more formulaic way of making that blended silky progression. I haven't heard of Sytrus, I'll check it out. Thank you for the information, & great track, it reflects a lot of time and consideration.

@sunlightlineage: I think the synths were pretty laden with reverb to begin with, each of those glissando pads is like 3 or 4 different synths all layered on top of eachother. I think I was using a preset or two from sytrus, a synth made in FM8 and another made in absynth. plus some white noise and a few of the 3xosc in fl all set to like saw waves and square waves (not detuned) - tbh, i think it's more about the note choices than the synths, the chords are all pretty spread out, like they're spread over an octave to begin with, which makes it sound a bit more wide or something - sorry if i didn't exxplain any of that well... hope that maybe helps :/

These "modal interchanges" are so smooth, were they accomplished by turning up the decay and reverb as you went down in octaves or in some other way?

Great stuff. I'm loving the vibe of this. The twisted chords and clattering beats are working for me!

@pHybian (see: Subfect): not off key :P - they're modal interchanges - but yes, i imagine they're not everyone's cup of tea.

the only thing that throws me off is those off-key pitch bends
