While many of the songs on Tosca's upcoming album Odeon feature guest vocalists, instrumental, ambient compositions remain an area of expertise for the Viennese duo. "I don't like the term 'ambient' so much, but I use it as a recognition point," says Richard Dorfmeister. Rupert Huber clarifies further, "We don't mean 'ambient' like the ambient scene of the 70s and 80s, or Music for Airports, rather it's more like a sound collage. When we say 'ambient,' we mean no beat." 'Bonjour,' which anchors the upcoming album Odeon, offers ample proof that Tosca's mastery of lush, pastoral soundscapes remains unchallenged, and offers a glimpse of the "elegant dark" direction explored on the new LP. Odeon is released February 3rd on !K7 Records.
