Justincaseboy is the latest production project from Mist, an accomplished musician and DJ from the United States. Mist began playing guitar at the age of 4, picking up other instruments as the years went by and playing in many rock and metal bands. In 1996, after a job transfer landed him in the Dallas, Texas area, and being unable to fit finding and practicing with a new band into his busy work scheduled, Mist began collecting electronic production gear so that he could continue working on new material solo. He purchased his first pair of turntables around this time as well since he had also been drawn to the rave scene and its own form of artistic expression in 1992. The two forms of music began to combine in his solo work until the Live Pa project Psy Co. morphed into existence. This project used only daisy-chained MIDI interfaced hardware, no computers, to create as live an electronic experience as possible. One Psy Co. track, an experimental down-tempo piece entitled Plane, was released on the We Records compilation Chill Room.

In order to further involve himself with the local dance music scene, Mist co-founded the party production company Mistical Productions in 1997 with a few other like-minded individuals. Over the next 10 years MistProd, as it was affectionately referred to, became one of the most prominent psy trance party production crews in Texas. With this exposure and the continual furthering of his DJ skills, Mist began to be recognized on an international level. In 2004, he was invited to become affiliated with Inpsyde Media from Italy. A few months later Acidance Records from Greece asked him to work with them, which he accepted as it offered greater involvement in decision making capacities. Mist created two well received compilations for Acidance, Dirty South and A Violent Reaction.

2007, however, was a year of great change for the artist. After much personal turmoil in his life, Mist left Acidance Records, closed down Mistical Productions, and took a step back from psychedelic trance to focus once again on metal. He couldn’t stay away though and Mist returned to psy trance in 2008 with a fresh perspective and a focused new production project – Justincaseboy. Casting aside all the rules and subgenre classifications, this new project refuses to be pigeonholed, fusing hardware with refined computer-based production techniques into an amalgamation of sounds new and old that point to the future while remembering the past. After only one year, Justincaseboy is steadily gaining support, with songs appearing in sets by well-known DJs across the world and with tracks due for international release later this year.
