Junkyard Lipstick was born in Cape Town early 2011 inspired by watching The Runaways and a ‘why the hell not’ attitude. They have been playing the local club circuit ever since.
Persisting through line-up changes in early 2012, they finally found their own unique style and changed their focus to writing heavier and faster material, concentrating on topics such as politics, social issues and gore delivered with a feminine touch. Their sound includes various subgenres of the alternative music spectrum but mostly in the thrash/power metal arena.
The band released a few singles during their journey and in March 2013 released their debut album “Hellbent”. With the release of their debut album, the singles “Barbie”, “Hellbent” and “War” were played on various online/FM radio stations both locally and abroad. They also unveiled a previously unreleased single “Bioterror” for free download in July 2013.
They are currently working on their 2nd release "The Butcher's Delight" which will be a six song EP, hopefully to be released in March 2014.
Their first tour to Gauteng took place at the end of May 2013 and was very well received.

Lucinda Villain (Drums) is our closet nerd, obsessed with CSI, numbers and getting her left hand to listen. Loves thrash metal especially Sepultura, Anthrax, Slayer and Exodus, and other influences include Soulfly, The Exploited and G.B.H.
Jacky Roodt (Bass) is the youngest in the band and was taught by Edgar Syce and has an extreme obsession with Tool, so much she can play quite a few of their songs. This quirky girl’s main influences are Metallica, Tool and A Perfect Circle.
Tazz-O (Vocals) could be the love child of Dee Snyder and Christina Aguilera with her killer vocals (she’s currently completing Grade 8 Opera at UCT) and big blonde hair.
Her influences are Guns ‘n Roses, Twisted Sister, Manowar, Megadeth, Iron Maiden and Queen.
Louise “Gore” Gorman (Guitars) started playing piano at a very young age, but later felt she would be able to express herself better through a guitar. Her love for Death Metal has her head banging to the likes of Cannibal Corpse and Necrophagist. She is also very much influenced by the darker sounds of a lot of Black Metal.
