Live string orchestra, 22 players, written to the opening scene of The Village. The piece runs 1:36; we rehearsed and recorded in just 6 minutes. The orchestra plays "con sordino" (with mutes), an idea I got from studying the score of Vaughn Williams' "The Lark Ascending". I marked 4 sections on the parts: "Tender", "Prayerful", "Very Emotional", and "Hollow". The piece is short but very dramatic.
