RELEASING THE GROOVE :
For over a decade, Josselin has been schooling music aficionados and club goers all over European dance-floors and Parisian airwaves. Promoter by day, DJ by night; Sublet has acquired the advantage of knowing what his public wants, and they get it.
As a youth in Lyon, He started taking to the decks early, DJing at the age of 16. With influences of house music, hip-hop, and disco funk coursing through his veins, the young Lyonnais’s early live sets reflected a huge, mature respect for pioneers in black musical culture around the world. His passion for spinning vinyl quickly became a force of habit.
At 23, a move to Paris was imminent in his future. The desire to work fulltime in music was a calling Sublet could not resist. He packed up his vinyl, heading north toward the city of lights and sound, where his dreams became an unquenchable pursuit. From there on, it was all or nothing; Living for the music.
Without haste, Josselin became a PR machine at an independent, Parisian agency. For three years, he labored nonstop helping to promote numerous international artists and labels. The momentous experience transformed his understanding of music, with all its intricacies and business, on a far deeper level.
If it was Paris that would teach, it was London that would inspire him. Once again, following the music across the English channel, he settled down in London. He became a prime spectator in the UK music arena; it was there where he was able to fully realize the magnitude of his dreams.
Passionate and committed as ever to experience the cultural and musical aspects London had to offer, He felt that working at Ninja Tune was his destiny. As an assistant label manager, he found himself in good company experiencing the underground scene to the fullest. The parties, gigs, festivals, and broadcasts that transpired during his residency left a lasting impression on the astute Frenchman.
When he finally left his musical promise land in 2010, he returned to Paris with a vision. It was time for change, time to break up the monotony in the Parisian scene, and time to shake up its people. Heavily influenced by Gilles Peterson and Benji B. during his London days, a concept for a radio show was soon born.
J055 realized the only way to revitalize Paris was to break away from tradition by transmitting new, eclectic; and most importantly, interesting, electronic music. Thanks to the presence of Radio Campus Paris (93.9FM), “Release The Groove” (RTG) had its first transmission in late Fall of 2011. Each monthly podcast reflected the quality and evolution Sublet yearned for Parisians to experience. Since day one of transmission the listeners have definitely caught on.
Now, that things are set in motion, 2012 is truly the year for Josselin to expand his personal brand of quality and sound. Whether he is hosting a radio show, organizing parties, or DJing at clubs around Paris; he’s unstoppable. His mission is far from over, because the music never sleeps, but his destiny holds many great things.
To some, it may seem crazy for one man to take on such a colossal challenge, but as we all know, there’s no rest for the weary. When music is the pulse of the heart, the beat goes on. Forever.
