Reminds me of 20 years ago.
20 years ago I used a visual envelope in a program called SOUNDEDIT 16 to shape the ends of samples before loading them into the shitty sequencer. The start and finish remind me of those shaped fades, a perfect hemisphere was my goal when shaving the start and finish with the little wire and dots over the soundwave

So wait, what? A slowed amen rinse-out and Shadow-style trip-hop breakdrums over a Brasiliero carnivalesque loop track? Are these all your originals? Remixes? Loving this one.

I had no effects or plugins whatsoever in my outdated sequencer, and no effects loop on my audio interface. For the flange/envelopey effect, I slowly twisted knobs during a live dump onto DAT.

At the end of the 90s I used to make a lot of dub plates to play out before I got my CD burner in 2000. When I played the Dub Plate of this track at Drinkland for Test Press Sundays, everyone was dancing their asses off, it was a crazy night and I didn't drop this acetate until after 3 AM, then Krust asked what it was. It meant the world to me because every drum and bass DJ and producer in NYC that I had played the track for had not understood it, they HATED it. "Where's the compression on the snares?" or "That bass isn't bassy enough!" both valid criticisms I guess if I was trying to emulate the same Metalheadz and Ram Trilogy tracks they were? Instead I was trying to be original and make tracks that I thought were funky and made me dance around my little computer room in front of the monitors. Thank you, Krust. Thank you Swingsett and Thank you TC Izlaam, the only 3 motherfuckers who got it. I admit, it is a low fidelity piece of music, but if it makes you even nod your head a little, I did my job.

Three and a half minutes of intro designed especially for Swingsett's slow layering style. He would drop the beginning of the intro, fade it into a Ram Trilogy track (leaving my intro layered in back) then fucking slide the fader back onto my track after the Ram track when my bass dropped here. Then from here he would let my track play solo until abput 5:40 then fade another track on top and ride it out. HOWEVER, the best bit is at three and a half. The juice turns into butter right here. Crank subwoofers accordingly.

This drop shaves off the floaty bits in a brilliant manner, I had to rewind this section a few times to figure out what was going on. Even though sound cloud is crap on iPad with lagging intrface, skippy audio and half the buttons non-functioning untill a minutenafter you mash them, the track is still a heady Professor Genius head-nod great.
God damned impossible to place a timed comment in the right spot!!!
