Nathan Hanspal aka Johnny Deep has always been a purveyor of all things deep and funky. He was raised in the UK but then moved to Australia at the age of 11. As a toddler, he was exposed to the underground sounds of 70's funk thanks to his Dad. At 18 he bought his first turntables and began producing in 2004.
The anglo indian DJ has performed in no less than 70 clubs in 12 cities around the world including Sydney, Bombay, Tokyo and Barcelona.
He also has presented and produced a total of 8 long running radio shows including 2 shows for The Ministry of sound in Australia.
Behind the scenes however, Johnny has been working tirelessly to produce music that would reflect his passion and musical heritage.
With his debut release, the 'mini disco' he has tried to encapsulate his funky vintage influences of the past while injecting the 'phat' sounds of modern house music. What results is a funky deep experience with plenty of dubby, 'phat' house flavor.
Due to Johnny's DJ commitments through Asia and Europe, he has had to travel light and thinks of himself as a mobile producer. A big believer in 'not how many tools, but how well you use them', he has produced some truely original music with the most minimal of equipment.
Now based in Bombay India, he is committed to helping the development of EDM in the country, both as a DJ and as a producer.
