‘Life? It’s shit, blood and booze. After that there's just personal relationships, self-esteem, creative satisfaction, love, laughter, devotion, consideration, effort etc etc’ Johnny Daukes 2008
The debut album from 'All Our Good Friends' released in early 2008.
AOGF is the solo project of West London writer/film-maker Johnny Daukes.
‘This is a gem of a debut, It’s great. Trust me.’ SUNDAY TIMES (CD of the Week)
‘Daukes’ Orson Welles-style monocreator attitude works well on ‘Promise’. This is one of the more remarkable efforts of recent times.’ The WORD Magazine
‘A haunting suite of songs with the sonic palate of Radiohead and a melancholic English voice reminiscent of Robert Wyatt. A fantastic debut.' ROUGH TRADE – Record of the Week
‘11 deliciously drowsy songs somewhere between the mood of ’In Rainbows’ and the music of Sparklehorse'. NME
Johnny Daukes was the singer/writer with Indie band FIN from 1993 – 97 and attracted comparisons with Morrissey, Nirvana and Dennis Potter.
Having achieved critical adulation that didn’t translate into sales, FIN split up and Daukes (along with many music journalists of the period) found himself writing comedy sketches. Daukes wrote and produced the acclaimed Radio 4 series ‘Radio9’ and BBC Three TV show ‘The Message’.
In the midst of these projects he wrote for the TV show ‘Monkey Dust’, performed motorcycle stunts in pop videos for Westlife and Blue, voiced countless Radio and TV advertising campaigns (as well as 16 series of ‘Eurotrash’) and has written two screenplays that are currently in development.
In late 2006, reflecting on the break-up of an eighteen-year relationship, he wrote the group of songs that form ‘Promise’.
