For nearly three decades Joey Schaaf has been writing and performing his original music as well as performing in several tribute bands honoring such bands as The WHO with The HO and the Clash with the Cash. Singer, song writer, producer, engineer, drummer, keyboardist and lesser known character Joey Schaaf has toured all over the USA, played in Bangkok and Phuket Thailand and Suzhou, China.
Joey's music career began in Orlando, FL during the first wave of punk rock music. Then moved to the East Bay in Northern California to catch the second wave of punk and played in original line-up of Dance Hall Crashers as the keyboardist afterwards going on to form many bands featuring original music of many kinds, mostly variations of Rock, Ska and Punk.
After many years, bands and projects Joey moved to Virginia where he got married and had a son. After a few years in Virginia Joey moved to Thailand for three years and became the fill-in drummer for the Bangkok based destroyer of rock music band Blood Thirst Spider and drummer for improv./experimental bands Sonny Luxury and The Instant.
Then off to Suzhou, China for a year doing a solo act at a small restaurant/bar named Zapata's. During his time in China Joey wrote, recorded and produced three CDs, Child's Play, Electric Words and The Sound Of One Hand which was made into a compilation named What Happened In China.
Now residing in Atlanta, GA Joey is continuing to create music in his home studio, some of which can be heard here.
