This is a short, chronological compilation of speech recordings I took of my Dad, Michael Wills, after he suffered a fairly major stroke when I was 15.
He regained all his physical functionality and co-ordination after a month or so, but his speech remained affected right up until his death, following another stroke, a year later.
As many of friends and family will know, he was a very artistic man. I've no doubt he's the biggest creative influence on what I do today, along with my mother.
He perhaps wasn't the most outgoing public speaker, but did have a pretty wicked northern sense of humour. Always found it quite apt and amusing that he never lost that, including the ability to swear perfectly in context.
Not actually sure he'd totally approve of me sharing this with you...but since rediscovering it, I thought it could be a pretty light hearted education on how one particular British man's brain and speech function was affected following a Stroke.
It's worth holding out for his musical rendition towards the end...
