About
Alex's parents bought him his first guitar when he was in the 3rd grade. Self taught at an early age, he started learning to play songs he heard on the radio.
It wasn't until he started listening to local college radio in the mid 80's when he began to take music seriously. A product of the Bay Area indie music scene, and Influenced by local acts such as Blue Movie and Hugh, he got the bug and joined his first band.
He played bass for local bands Street Pigeon, The Steve Fegan Experience, and Euphoric Disaster back in the early/mid 90's, before he went back to his roots and switched back to his guitar, forming the acoustic duet Ms.Quito in 2001 with artist/performer Allison Hennessy, after working with her in New York. Later that year, he released a post-Ms.Quito EP of his own material entitled Songs About Love, Loss... and Money.
Around that time he hooked up with drummer and long time friend Mark Edgar. They had played together in previous projects, as bass and drums respectively, and enjoyed a few good years of collaborating and writing songs together, as the guitar/djembe based duo, The Acoustik Projekt. Their self-titled album is a product of that collaboration, and was released Nov 4, 2011.
Currently, he is enjoying a solo career, writing and playing his songs for anyone who would like to listen, as well as promoting his own series of singer/songwriter showcases featuring local artists.
