About
Pillar of Zion "ዐምደ ፡ ጽዮን" (Ge'ez) is a conscious roots reggae band from Dallas formed in 2011. Pillar of Zion's founding members are: Tedla Melaku (Jesus Dread), an Ethiopian artist related to Emperor Tekle Giorgis II of the Zagwe and Solomonic lineage; Lead Vocalist Jazmine McGill (Wolete Selassie) who also starred in the national children's TV series Wishbone (1995) as the character of Emily Barnes; her brother Zachary Orion, and Patrick Snowden. Pillar of Zion is a Pillar of Orthodox Tewahedo spirituality. The Orthodox church was founded by the apostles of Christ. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo church is the God-assigned keeper of the Ark of the Covenant and preserves Deuterocanonical books that are not part of the Masoretic text such as the Book of Enoch, along with other sacred scriptures of old found in no place else. The hermeneutic meaning of Pillar of Zion is the obelisk of truth and support of the heavenly Jerusalem. ''Pillar of Zion'' also promotes the legacy of the historical Ethiopian Emperor Amda Zion of the tribe of Judah, a warrior of faith in early fourteenth century triumphing over spiritual darkness.
