Jessica Lynn Vasquez is a singer/songwriter based in Nashville, TN. She is originally from the San Fernando Valley in beautiful Los Angeles CA. She has been carrying a tune before she could speak words; music came naturally to her. She grew up in a home surrounded with music. Her mother regularly sang folk/rock tunes and played guitar while her father jammed out on drums (he plays guitar as well sometimes), so picking up a guitar was almost second nature. She grew up in a loving home with just enough to get buy. She was always grateful for the sacrifices her family made to send her and her brother to a private school and loved getting involved in anything Artsy. She had sung in choir since she was 5 up until she was a senior in high school. At the age of 15 she started turning her poems into songs and recording herself on her karaoke machine (cassette). She would record over herself on these tapes and create 3 piece harmony songs in A Capella. At that time she didn't know how to play the guitar very well yet she had plenty of practice (from years of choir) figuring out layers of harmony, so she worked with what she had. Frustrated and wanting to expand musically, she practiced her guitar every day and learned basic chords... Once she got that down with a few rhythms there was no stopping her songwriting or singing. Once she graduated from High School she attended Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA; where she formed her first band. Once school was done she taught music at the private school she had once attended (for 3 years) and stuck with a friend from Musicians Institute (Amanda Ainsworth) to form the female duo "Dames in Distress". Dames played in various clubs and coffee shops in Los Angeles and the Pasadena area. Because of their country influences and style they decided to migrate to Nashville to see what could transpire. Dames soon faded away and Jessica went solo. After her Moms death in 2007 she decided to go back home to be close to her family. She formed a couple other bands in the meantime "Jessica and the Hired Hands" & "Fourth & Jessie" that both were fun experiences but life led her back to Nashville, TN in 2012. She is currently singing solo and is always up for any musical opportunity or collaboration. Songwriting is her diary, her therapy and her gift that she loves to share. <3
