About
Originally from Calgary Alberta, now living in Vancouver BC, Jenna is one of the top female electronic music producers in western Canada. Beginning with guitar lessons at age 9, she quickly ventured on to other instruments and self recorded her first demo at 17. Playing a number of shows in Calgary including headlining Calgary Pride in 2006, Jenna realized that music was something she couldn’t shake.
After to relocating to Vancouver her style saw a change as she began DJing. Her music now pulls on influences from many different genres and has been described as funky, experimental, progressive, electronica. As a DJ she has played in some of Vancouver’s top clubs and her sets tend to emphasize electronica, deep house, and tech house but can also cross over the genres of drum & bass, electro, down-tempo, and breaks.
Upon graduating from Emily Carr University with a degree in Film, Jenna also begun incorporating visual work including photography and video components with her music releases. In the future she plans on producing more audio/visual work due to the immersive strength of the medium.
Jenna is half owner of Vancouver based electronica and experimental label Deaf Chemist, which promotes innovate artists who strive to push the boundaries. She is also an instructor at The School of Remix, a music production and DJ school in Vancouver as well as a founder of the Vancouver Women’s Producer and DJ Forum.
Always striving to create enlightening musical experiences, it is clear that Jenna’s innovative work will continue to push boundaries into the future.
