Agricultural theft has become a worrisome phenomenon in the Salinas Valley, where the multi-billion dollar industry of farming has attracted criminal elements capable of enterprises large and small. Everything from irrigation pipe to motors, pumps, and whole vehicles has been targeted during a spike in prices for metal and a persistently sluggish economy.
