I live where the needle finds its groove, spinning closer and closer to the center.
Music has been in my blood forever, loving the emotions, experiences, rhythms, undeniable truths, intricacies and on and on. Songs are always playing in my head so all I have done is sing, dance, and play musical instruments, despite no one in my family having much to do with music.
I started listening to electronic music at around the age of 8 with the Mortal Kombat soundtrack. I loved most of the songs on there. Especially when the The Immortal was played over a PA system at my elementary school for a karate demonstration. I truly got into electronic music when my step brother got me hooked on liquid dancing. One thing led to the next and I was going to raves regularly. Drum and bass became my favorite genre of music and soon enough I began teaching myself how to spin.
For several years I spun mostly DnB on vinyl, starting first on a Numark battle pack and later moving on to Technics. After moving to San Diego and joining the DJ club, DVC, I switched to CDs. CDs were easier to carry to campus and it was the CDJ 400s that were brought to most of the gigs. As time at UCSD progressed, I started looking into possibilities with laptop DJing. Having discovered controllerism, I took Ean Golden as my idol and converted to using Traktor Pro with the VCI-100.
In the last half of 2009 my inspiration shifted from DnB to House music and changed my artist name from Jayem to JameRSun to mark this. In 2010 I have hopes of great progressions in my work with electronic music. In the meantime, check out my sound. You can contact me at jamesonrr@hotmail.com. Enjoy!
