I'm using SoundCloud as the main distribution method for shows I've recorded at my venue, The Agency.

The Agency is a live performance / production venue, or multifunctional event space that is located in Albuquerque NM. Since the doors opened in March 08, we've been hosting many shows ranging from poetry slams to burlesque reviews.

Being the sound engineer I am, I was very eager to record all music shows at The Agency in the spirit of Bill Graham Presents (Fillmore West). I wanted to achieve two things - embrace new technology (such as SoundCloud) and also offer local and touring bands a high quality, multi-track recording of their performance. This has been a trial by fire effort as I'm constantly refining my procedure.

Every band that has performed at The Agency has given me their nod of approval to record them. With this blessing, I have set forth to mix down the recordings into stereo tracks and use SoundCloud to share them with the bands.

This is my first "test set" here on SoundCloud. By having the inherent distribution services of SoundCloud, my correspondence with the bands I've hosted has become easier. I can upload entire performances a wave file (nice!) to the cloud and invite the bands to come listen to the recording... and the icing on the cloud cake is the ability to drop comments right onto the timeline (one unique feature I am thrilled over). No more emailing back and forth with the bands just to dial in vocal compression, or bring up the keys in the mix... plus, ALL the band members can comment on the recording... I'm really digging this!
