Need a gift for a gifted musician?
The Big Room was established by Mitch Hamburger and John Bytell in 1998 in Atlanta, GA USA as a guitar duo, which it remains today. Guitar parts are the result of improvisation free of rhythm and tonality.
The term "The Big Room" was used by jazz artists in the 50's and 60's when describing experimental, avaunt-garde, or "Free" jazz. This term is intended to describe the freedom of expression through music without the constraints of more traditional music. It seeks to return to the primitive roots of musicality.
The drums and bass are a product of post-production using Acid Xpress. My inspiration is drawn from the works of Simon Postford and his musical endeavors such as Shpongle, Ott, and Hallucinogen. The drums are utilized as a grounding element for the free flowing, stream of conscience guitar tracks.
Thank you for listening. Thoughtful comments and criticism are welcomed.
