This is a reply I made in response to a comment about this song, so I thought I might as well put it here in a more concise manner : All Religions “evolve” as time moves on. Rastafarianism historically as a religion is still very fuzzy: but it is no different from other world beliefs that are centuries older .. Based on teachings from true Rastafarian elders when I was a child, I come to view Rastafarianism as “wholesome lifestyle” which anyone can adopt as theirs regardless of , class, color, or creed ,or national origin without having to wear decorations like turbans, dread locks and other trinkets cursing at "bald head" non-dreadlocks believers: although turbans and dreadlocks do look outstanding on the person wearing them , nevertheless it is totally up to a person taste to wear such decorations if they wish to do so, but not mandatory to be a Rasta:wearing such decorations is akin to a person wearing a police uniform; the uniform alone doesn’t make that person a legal police officer , and a real police officer wearing “plain clothes” can arrest that person for falsely acting as a police officer ...Although Rastafarianism was founded in the 1930s as Pan African movement exclusively for folks with African blood touting the mantra that all black people must return to Africa, mainly Ethiopia, as a backlash against the white British colonial ex slave master that ruled unfairly with an iron fist. Today Jamaica is an Independent country ruled by Jamaicans, also the Rasta movement spread out of confinement in Jamaica during the 1970s due to Bob Marley’s International break through with Reggae music; therefore, times has changed since the 1930s, we now exist a global community for better or worse, only time will tell.. The original Rasta theme of “back to Africa” for all black people outside of Africa is obviously impossible. Paradoxically, more Africans are fleeing Africa than returning there due to outside and inside political power manipulations and corruptions. Haile Selassie once said “faith is private” so Jah will knows the true Rastas whether they are, white, black, yellow pink, or from mars, with or without dreadlocks and turbans ; everything truthful lies in a man’s heart, not in a man’s skin of any color…Yuh can’t fool Jah.. I am a US citizen, raised and schooled in the United states , but I was born in Jamaica a place where one doesn’t have to spend a lifetime there to soak up its mysterious exotic culture. I have been to Jamaica only twice in more than 30 years, but I run into Jamaicans here in the US that visit the Island frequently so I am fairly up to date with the goings on there. ..Jam York
