A classically trained sarod and tabla player who sings, plays palm-wine guitar, and DJs clever beats, James Whetzel, aka Baba James, is a multi-instrumentalist producer who combines these elements to create new electro-acoustic music that melds the melodic subtleties of ragas with punchy desi beats, elegant African grooves, hiphop, rawk, and whatever is necessary.
Music architect for public spaces at Seattle Center. Coordinator for Seattle Parks Busker program. Initiated the "on-hold" music program of the city of Seattle.
