Bio
Jack Swift (24) started Djing at the age of 14 after his older brother (DJ Listener) bought his first pair of technics. Jacks main influences came from the Pirates of the time; Ice 88.4, Mac FM, London Underground and Freek 101.8. When all of his mates where rocking to the teletubbies, Oasis and the Spice Girls, Jack would be sat there on a Saturday evening tampering with his Hi FI making sure he had reception to catch DJ EZ's show on Freek FM. It was a natural progression once the jump to Djing had been made to play those UK/US House and Garage beats he'd been listening to for the last five years.
After four years of being just a bedroom DJ, a great ambition of his was achieved in the Summer of 2005 when he was given a slot on London's triple award winning radio station Freeze 92.7 FM (RIP). Minutes before the show was set to start, Jack Swift still didn't a DJ name. Having picked up a copy of the Metro on the way to the studio, he thought it would be a good idea to flick through the Sports section to see if any "cool" words jumped out at him. The headline on the back page read "Benitez eases the Pressure". DJ Pressure was born and took control of his first show on Freeze FM in June 2005. Unfortunately for Jack, he was on holiday the following week but thought it was best to keep the Friday afternoon show in the family and got his brother (DJ Listener) to cover for him. On his return, it was agreed that they would do the show together; Listener and Pressure were born.
Joining the Freeze FM team turned out to be a real springboard to getting into clubland. Since 2005, Listener and Pressure have played at some of the House and Garage scene's leading promotions, including; Exposure, Liberty, Garage Nation, Pure Silk, Roast, A One Night Stand, Pure Temptation and the Spreadlove Project to name but a few. They have played alongside a vast majority of the leading lights within the scene; DJ EZ, MJ Cole, Wookie, Heartless Crew, Matt Jam Lamont, The Dreem Teem, Martin Liberty Larner, Artful Dodger, The Wideboys, Dominic Spreadlove and Hermit. They also have had the pleasure of having their sets hosted by some of the scene's top MC's, including; Creed, PSG, DT, Mighty Mo, Bushkin, Kie, Sparks, Viper, Sharky P, Majestic, CKP, Hyperactive and MC Wicked.
Towards the end of the decade, there was a real lack of decent new music in this style and it began to frustrate Jack that he found himself having to draw for the same old school tunes in the raves. This, the fact he didn't really like the name Pressure and the discovery of the 2005 Dubstep Anthem "Midnight Request Line" (produced by Skream) would prove to be an important stepping stone for Jack. Hearing Skream's anthem in 2008 was a real eye opener and from that point onwards it wasn't just decent House and Garage that Jack was searching for. Fast forward a year and after a lot of self education Jack had found his feet playing an energetic mix of upfront beats ranging from House, Garage, Dubstep, Electro, Techno and everything inbetween; Jack Swift was born.
Essentially, starting from scratch under the "Swift" alias meant that Jack was doing all of the normal things budding DJ's need to do; going to the right raves, handing mix cds to the relevant people and just generally being in the right place at the right time. However, his first break came in the form of a DJ competition at the very beginning of 2010. His brother informed him that Kiss (The Radio Network) where putting on a DJ competition called the "Midnight Mix" an that he should put a mix together and enter! As it happens those lovely people down at Kiss decided they liked his mix a lot and initially the mix was aired as the winner of the first Midnight Mix Competition. http://djs.totalkiss.com/2010/01/jack-swift/
A few months down the line, Kiss decided to feature his mix on their "Chosen Ones" show, putting him in the same company as top names such as DJ Hype, David Rodigan, High Contrast, Fedde Le Grand and DJ Pioneer (<a href="http://djs.totalkiss.com/2010/03/kiss-chosen-ones-best-of-the-midnight-mix-so-far/).

In their infinite wisdom, they decided that Jack's Midnight Mix was the best they had heard to date, which entitled him to play at London's Wireless Festival on the second stage alongside Sub Focus and DJ Shadow. Another perk was to drop another hour long mix on the mighty Kiss.

Unfortunately, he was finding it difficult to find the time to push both the "Jack Swift" and "DJ Pressure" aliases. It was decided that one had to go and DJ Pressure played his last set for Exposure at the Colloseum in Vauxhall on the 5th February 2011, alongside DJ Listener, DJ EZ, Spin E B and DJ Pioneer (RIP DJ Pressure).
Since then, Jack Swift has gained the attention of another world renowned brand, "The Ministry of Sound". He was recently asked by Ministry to create a promotional mix CD for their forthcoming Addicted to bass Club tour/ Cd Compilation that will be distributed at their own club nights nationwide. Jack will also be Djing at various Addicted to Bass Club nights in the coming months.
That wraps things up for the moment.
If your out in clubland this weekend (12/03/11) then you can catch Jack Swift alongside DJ Listener at "A One Night Stand's 15th Birthday Bash" at Club Hidden in Vauxhall.
If you want to catch Jack and Listener over the airwaves of London, you can do so by locking into Image 103.00FM (http://imageradio.co.uk/) every Tuesday Drive Time 4-6 Pm for an hour's worth of the very best in new House, Garage, Dubstep, Techno, Funky and an hour's worth of Vintage old school House and Garage.
Ciao for now x
