About

As a teenager, Mauro Napoletano was eager to reach his goal of becoming a professional soccerplayer. Almost every day you could find him practicing on the local soccerfield. At that time, no one could expect where he would end up a few years later cos when the first waves of house music reached his inner-‐ear, he knew it was time for a change! All the energy that once went into his sport, now got sucked up by this nasty virus we like to call: “house music”...
Two “Slk-‐1200’s” and mixer later, Mauro’s “virus” had taken over completely! You could still find him practicing every single day, only this time it wasn’t on the local soccerfield... His hours-‐and-‐hours of turntable-‐abuse did however payed off, cos’ somewhere around 2006, you could hear him play at almost every local event. His dj-‐sets came to be known as true crowdpleasers, moving the mass each and every time! Still, there was an empty void that needed to be filled...
His urge to take the “next step” in his musical carreer, resulted in a band called: “the Civilians”. togheter with two friends, he started experimenting with soft –and hardware tools to create his own sounds. Like prehistoric cavemen, the threesome filled their “cave” (nowadays he calls it a studio!) with synthesizers, drums, computers,... more or less anything that produced sound! But as time passed on the three friends decided each went their own ways... And altough it seemed like an “ending” at the time, for Mauro this was a new start, a new way of discovering his own musical identity.
It was at this point where he decided to take some guideance into his journey. Like any young, beginning producer he had tons of ideas yet limited skills to turn them into tracks that reached his (high quality) standard. He could throw some samplepacks together and call it a track (like so many these days!). Instead he learned his way around, twisting knobs and pulling faders, clicking cuts and cutting clicks,... Every bit & bleep got analyzed and like a sponge he absorbed every piece of knowledge he could lay his hands on until the puzzel fel in it’s place...
Jack Jacksen was probably born after a couple of beers somewhere around 4am in the morning. Still, it reflects everything the man stands for! A high quality standard (check out his releases on Natura Viva, WL77,...!), a vision of how it should be and of what it could be... Not looking for an easy way to the top, but taking it one step at a time. Just like that young, eager soccerplayer that wants to make it to the big leagues, doing everything he can with passion and love for the game!
Everytime you see the name “Jack Jacksen” on a poster, take 2 steps back, double check and note that date in your agenda. Take my word for it, you won’t be dissapointed!
