From J-Dilla to Steve Reich, Charlie Parker to Channel 4. A healthy dose of 50s, 60s and 70s jazz [think Coltrane, Miles Davis and Wayne Shorter] the golden era of hip-hop [Nas, Pete Rock, Tribe Called Quest] abstract grooves, broken beats, Acid Jazz and Latin Dub.
Metro Jazz, Swing Rap, Abstract Hip Hop, J-Treole have never sat comfertably with either the more beat&sample orientated Hip Hop scene or the more cerebral compositional styles of modern Jazz.
Their earliest influences site 4hero, Madlib, Squarepusher and anyone who dared to challenge the 'Jazz-Police'
Nower days there's everything from Erykah Badu, Flying Lotus, Zero7 and Vangelis in there.
