From the Distrito Capital in Colombia, Nicolas Saavedra (aka Icarus!) exists only for those who understand the funk – and for all those whom are a slave to disco. When you listen to ‘Viisite,’ ‘Words Of Good’ and his remix of Futurewife’s ‘Shake The Money,’ you cannot help but to get a tingle down the back of your neck and a butterfly sensation rising up from within the pit of your stomach.
Ladies & Gentlemen.. …as Sampson, Icarus!, Adam Berger and Bo Cendars have entered the building. Wait until you hear what these guys have created – as it will take your springtime and love hearts socks off!
There are no artificial colours here.
Icarus! is a producer from Colombia who I heard a few months back for the first time, and his tracks keep getting tighter and tighter. Vidamour is some serious free-for-download nu disco dopeness. Hard hitting claps, melodic keys, french-inspired synths and a whole lot of groovy bass love. This makes my ears feel nice, how about you? - CasperTouch Icarus! - Vidamour.
Nicolas Saavedra aka Icarus! from out of the Distrito Capital in Colombia was kind enough to craft us this track (which started off life as an instrumental) after we initially heard his unsigned remix of Louis La Roche’s ‘Untrue.’ We think it captures the essence of his total production quite resourcefully and without too many vocal distractions overall, so here it is.
Merci beaucoup Icarus!.
Every blog I know was bombarded with this track yesterday, it was like social media carpet bombing. But y’know what?, the track is really good. It comes from Colombian producer Icarus! and it’s called Woot (for some reason)
It’s a really well crafted slice of Disco-House, and although track like this are ten-a-penny these days, there is something really compelling about this one. The chord progression hits just the right note for the track, elevating above it’s bog-standard Disco-House contemporaries. The bassline too, and the way it feeds the rest of the track make this a standout production. Occasionally, we are quite pleased we got bothered on all our social media accounts. This is one of those times. Nice one Icarus!
Icarus!’s clever use of his chosen vocal sample on ‘Shake Hands With Summer,’ takes him through a voyage of retro TV clarity, and dancefloor warming-up excitement.
This might also sound great on certain specialist radio shows as well. Fantastic…
"As we often like to do on Mondays, we’re going to start the week off with some fresh and tasty nu-disco vibes. This week, a young producer from Colombia brings us an ingeniously sampled French house style track that fills the need just right. We don’t know a whole lot about Nicolas Saavedra aka Icarus!, but what we do know is we are seriously digging his sound and can’t wait to hear more. Shake Hands With Summer is his latest release and it’s vibe is essentially summed up within its title. Coupled with a vocal sample that lends it an awesome retro vibe, the bouncy beat is infectious beyond belief. Whether summer has just left or is soon arriving, this one’s sure to warm you up."
Who said French Touch always has to come from France? Check out this amazing little tune by Icarus!, straight from Colombia: analogue bass awesomeness, lovely chord progressions and, most importantly, tons of funk! Alan Braxe and Fred Falke (what ever happened to them?) would be proud. Got it stuck on repeat already – more, please! Free 320kbps download.
Just yesterday, I was writing about an artist from Chicago releasing a single on a record label from Croatia. Today, we travel to Bogotá, Columbia, where the young producer Icarus! just put out a single on a compilation for the excellent French music blog Touchez Français.
The French electro track opens up the filter and reveals a pulsing, dramatic chord progression before it pops into full gear, bringing in a bouncy bass line and slappy snares. Free download!
