Craylo. The type of word that conjures up a familiar image even before you know who or what we are referring to. Well, you will feel blessed when your ears are graced by their sounds. In a period where everyone is making music, it is hard to find artists (and collectives alike) that have the ability and attitude to stand out from the crowd. To do things differently right from the start for nothing more selfish other than that is what they are into. It takes guts, passion and an element of risk to do this and very few succeed – something Raoul Ray and Chris Massey will not have to worry about. Craylo is the outcome of two people with raw talent that were lucky enough to meet and we are glad they did.

Their first album, to be released through the free-range label Itchy Pig Records, is a true instance on what a journey through music should be. No tracks are the same, keeping different sounds, their listeners will become accustomed to and fall in love with in no time at all. Already receiving praise from around the globe from the likes of Stranger In Stereo and Elit3 amongst many others.

When asked about the album and their sound: “The guitar melodies, layered strings/pads, and glitch/IDM influenced tones makes for a style that’s hard to define. Some of the tracks take on a cinematic quality whilst others are more stripped back and textured. We hope this makes the album challenging yet pleasing on the ear. We feel music should always have a narrative and take the listener on a journey. This approach is less common in modern electronica. We’ve made Headtime Stories an album that’s accessible yet alternative.”

So there you have it. Headtime Stories is out Friday 2nd September and can be previewed on the Itchy Pig website along with the Juno website. So please show your support for this great sound.
