Calvin Murrell and business partners started independent record label Mind On Money Entertainment in 2005. He ended up leading the team’s first collaborative release to completion. The end result was the birth of Hustle Emcee. His talent-given name acknowledges those who work smartest at working the hardest – the ones who reach success in life.

Inspired by music from his mother’s vinyl collection – some Marvin Gaye, Barry White and Teddy Pendergrass classics – Hustle uses his voice as an instrument just like the drums or piano. “Over time, I learned how to identify the emotion, statement and vision for a song, and use that as the foundation from which to build.” His music chronicles an introspective journey through the mind of a young black entrepreneur. Differentiating between the art and the business is always a challenge. The way he learned how to handle that is by preserving the “art” of the business – the hustle.

Originally from East New York, Brooklyn, Hustle is connected to a life in New York City that has always moved to its own soundtrack. “All day, every day, music is blasting out of people's windows. That's the foundation for everything.” After moving to New Jersey and being exposed to other inner city cultures, Hustle saw how what he experienced on a musical level was universal to people all over. Now he creates music with a determination to speak to that universal appeal.

Through music, Hustle Emcee simply wants to inspire people to seek knowledge of the greatness that lies within. Business will be handled accordingly.
