Irie Ites Music is proud to present the first single on our brand new label: Dubmatix feat. Ranking Joe “War Inna Corner” with a “Raw Version” on the B-side.

Dubmatix, a dub-inspired mastermind based in Canada, shot to international attention with his albums “Champion Sound Clash” (2005) and “Atomic Subsonic” (2006) both of which garnered universal acclaim and created a stir in the roots dub and stepper scenes. Dubmatix has worked with numerous big-name artists, including Raffa, Anthony B and Freddie McGregor. With a musical style effortlessly spanning all facets of reggae and dub, Dubmatix is primarily driven by a desire to experiment. The new album “Renegade Rocker” is poised for release and is certain to bring him many more new fans.

Joseph Jackson aka Ranking Joe first started dee-jaying in the 1970s and remains one of Jamaica’s most respected deejays. The artist, who now lives in Brooklyn, ranks alongside big names such as U-Roy, U-Brown and Charlie Chaplin. Ranking Joe is a sought-after vocalist for albums, for example on the outstanding “World In Trouble” (M Records, 2005), the cover album of Pink Floyd's “Dark Side Of The Moon” by the Easy Star All-Stars, “Dub Side Of The Moon” (Easy Star, 2003) and with guest appearances for Dubmatix. The global sound system scene will be seeing quite a bit of him and his distinctive toasting style in 2008. On “War Inna Corner” Ranking Joe demonstrates his unique talent of using a few choice accents to take the tune to a higher level.

Irie Ites started in 1995 as a radio show on the Freie Radio Kassel station. From these relatively humble roots it soon grew to include a sound system and an online magazine. One of Irie Ites’s aims has always been to forge a tight worldwide network, and this has now culminated in the new eponymous label.

“War Inna Corner“ is the first release on the new Irie Ites label. The tune is shaped by the stepper tradition and unites vintage elements with a crisp modern sound. The fat horn section and melodious organ conjure smiles onto faces, while the driving rhythm and Ranking Joe's toasting will sweep people onto the dancefloor. The B-side is a Raw Version“, the ideal backdrop for soundsystem MC performances. The Irie Ites passion for roots, vintage, dub stepper and danceability is irresistibly united in this single.

"Wicked revival style steppa with our old friend Ranking Joe dropping some fine styles. Nice touches on the horns - it's a party floor filler for sure ... BIG UP." Steve Vibronics (UK)

„Dubmatix steppin' out inna fine stylee with Ranking Joe coming forward on the vocals. Catchy riddim sure to get your body moving. Splendid first release for the new Irie Ites label.“ Terry C., WLUW Chicago (USA)
